Thank you, as well, Elizabeth. Some people seem to have strong feelings about the Discussion area of LinkedIn. Given that he voiced his opinion so strongly, I didn’t feel bad about debating strongly back. I don’t think his intentions were bad, though. Still, I was happy when that exchange was over!

There is a wrong way to use LinkedIn and Twitter – to vent your frustrations, impose your superior attitude and criticize others for posting some helpful advice, as the individual in question did when commenting on your post. In this case, I would call it “unsocial media.”

I was appalled at his lack of civility and poor manners. He was in fight mode and wouldn’t back down.

I’m relatively new to social media so I have a limited experience with people who use it this way. If a teenage boy acted this way I could overlook his attitude due to immaturity, but not a grown man!

I completely agree. When you travel around like I have, you start to learn that different people have different ways of doing things. If you insist on your preconceptions. you miss the point.
