Thanks for the nice post. Here is another solution that I am using. Have own site for recurring tweets. For yourself or run as a service.
http://codingmall.com/products-mainmenu-8/95-joomla-recurring-tweets
Its simple and effective.

Thanks, JNFerree. I agree with you if I see the exact same tweet repeated. Unfollow.

You seem pretty sure that Twitter will be doing the ad thing. I keep hearing mixed messages from them.

There seems to be 2 schools of thought on "recurring tweets" and both arguments have valid points. When I have Twitter on my screen and I get the same repeated tweets, I don't like it. As a matter of course, I will unfollow those who use that approach. But, since a Tweet is only viewable for about 5 seconds and since my audience is global and active at varying times of day, it was useful to have a way to schedule Tweets for AM v. PM followers.

I suspect once Twitter unveils their Advert model (AdWords type revenue model) they might loosen up this again?

I suspect the quality of tweets will improve and the number API generated tweets will fall off dramatically.

I think it depends upon how you define recurring tweets. As you saw from the above scenarios, most of these are not at all tweeting the same thing 20 times. I agree that it's spam to tweet the exact same text over and over again. Did you take my survey?

At last twitter steps in to stop the automated income machine that is twitter. We will all have to work harder to earn good revenue now.

I believe its a good move. At the end of the day when recurring tweets were allowed you used to get the same tweet 20 times a day. How can that be ggod. It means more manual work but better quality tweets.

You're right in wondering what the whole thing is about. I've been trying to figure it out myself, with no success thus far.

In addition to your above points there's also the fact that the sun doesn't revolve around the United States (or any other place, for that matter). So, if you're trying to reach audiences in different time zones, it inevitably leads to repeating your tweets. Here's someone who is not going to rephrase essentially the same tweet four or five times just because of some still-born rule.
